Perfectly located for exploring the Cultural Triangle, Habarana is a small crossroads in open bush country where the langur monkeys, squirrels, monitor lizards and assorted wildlife are a constant source of entertainment. From here you can take a tranquil (if uncomfortable) ride on an elephant around the shores of the lake.

Within easy distance are many of Sri Lanka’s must-see locations; the cave temples at Dambulla; the rock fortress of Sigirya (not recommended for vertigo sufferers) and the amazing ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa.
