Hotel Beatriz Atlantis and Spa, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife

Buzz trips opinion
Located opposite the Playa Martiánez beach and just a stride away from the lovely Lago Martiánez swimming pool complex, the recently refurbished four star Hotel Beatriz Atlantis is a comfortable, modern hotel on the sea front in Puerto de la Cruz.

In a traditional Tenerife town whose hotels are its tourism Achilles’ Heel, the Beatriz Atlantis is one of the best options for a central location, comfort and a modicum of contemporary style. Prone to minor but annoying teething problems like a non functioning telephone in the room, the shortfalls are compensated for by private balconies with super views to Mount Teide or the sea or, if you get a corner room, both.

Rooms:
Not massive on floor space but bright and stylish with comfortable beds, double glazing to keep out street noise and a good sized en suite bathroom with powerful shower, the rooms are cosy and welcoming. Colour tones are in neutral creams and oatmeals contrasted by red or mulberry soft furnishings. The higher the floor, the better the views.

Facilities:
A stylish swimming pool terrace with comfortable sun loungers fronting the ocean is a difficult place to drag yourself away from and you can happily sunbathe and doze the day away, provided you have your Ipod in tow to keep the happy chatter of the kiddies club at bay. But it’s worth making the effort to visit the hotel’s spa which is located on the 13th and 14th floors and is a glass domed, blue marbled haven of swimming pool and spa treatments. Breakfasts are lavish and fresh and the Pool Bar has nice pasta and salad dishes. But as there are almost 300 restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz, our advice is to give the half and full board a wide berth and head to the Ranilla District instead.

Hotel Beatriz Atlantis and Spa prices are from €115 per night for twin room and breakfast.
