At the Bar, Wein & Co, Salzburg

Montage, Wein & Co, Salzburg, Austria

The Look: Wein & Co is a modern wine bar with a slightly Ikea pine furniture style decór in the centre of Salzburg. Seating is either outside, on curved benches along the wall, at high tables or at the bar (good for bar flies) and at large picture windows with views of the street (great for people watchers).

The Vibe: Modern, friendly, professional, knowledgeable staff – an attractive, very relaxing and welcoming environment in which to down a few.

Choice Drink: Wine of course, and with a blackboard featuring bar staff’s favourite wines, simply go with the flow and work your way down the list.

The Damage: Around €4.50 for a decent glass of wine. Blackboard prices are for smaller measures.

The Scene: A good mix of Millennials, Generation X-ers and Baby Boomers. both locals and visitors.

The Sounds: It was the World Cup, so football dominated.

Food Menu: There’s a select bar menu featuring salads, pastas etc.

The Quirk: Wein & Co is also a decent wine shop. Once you decide which wine you want to ‘take out’, you pay your bill, grab a bottle, take your receipt to the ‘shop’ part of the bar and receive a nice little discount.

Address: Platzl 2, Salzburg; open till Midnight daily.
