Put Petrica, 20; Zadar, Croatia
We found Apartments Amico on facebook and had made our arrangements with Ivan who had promised to tell us all about Zadar. However, Ivan wasn’t at the apartments when we arrived so we were booked in by his mother. It wasn’t a problem and as we were keen to get out and about exploring, I went to Ivan’s parents’ apartment to tell them we’d catch up with Ivan later.
This time his father, a bear-sized man, answered the door. I told him we’d see Ivan later.
“Okay… you want a beer?” he smiled.
“Thanks, but we’re going to go out and get some lunch,” I answered.
“What?” Ivan’s dad was having none of it. “Why you don’t want a beer? Have a beer.”
I knew then I was going to like staying at Apartments Amico.
Buzz Trips View
Apartments Amico is in a great position a couple of minutes from Maestro Bay. In one direction it’s about a 10 minute walk to the Zadar boatman who ferry you across to the old town. In the other it’s 15 minutes to the beach. There is a choice of supermarkets (handy for Pag cheese, prsut and some smooth local wine) close by as well as a cracking restaurant, Lungo Mare.Ivan is a font of local knowledge and his parents are extremely welcoming. We stayed at Amico apartments when we arrived in Croatia and on the night before we left. The first time we had a large comfortable apartment with sea views, the second time the apartment was a bit smaller but equally homely.
It was the perfect base for exploring an absolute peach of a city.
Apartments
The apartments are spacious (bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room) with air conditioning and everything you need to be self sufficient. The décor is homely and the apartments are spotlessly clean; it feels like a home from home. Beds are comfortable and each apartment has a TV and free wifi; ideal for posting all those lovely photos of Zadar on to facebook. There is also lots of useful information about Zadar and surrounding area (Ivan can organise excursions). Ask if you specifically want a balcony as not all rooms have one.
Being a residential, the area where Apartments Amico is located is quiet without much traffic and there is always parking available.
All in all Apartments Amico is an unfussy, very friendly and relaxing place to stay that provides a good value option for spending quality time in one of Croatia’s lesser known, but completely charming, cities. And Ivan and his parents are great.
