NH Palacio de Ferrera

NH Palacio de Ferrera

Plaza de España, 9; Avilés

Buzz Trips View

Beautifully decorated, lots of interesting nooks and crannies, super location in a fascinating city and with a semi-secret garden in which to stretch the legs, NH Palacio de Ferrera has a lot going for it. It also has one of the most imaginative breakfast buffets I’ve laid eyes on  – I’ve never seen salads served in an enclosed glass ball before…and the egg croissants are just wonderful. Head out in any direction from the hotel and you’ll encounter a magical piece of Avilés. It’s almost perfect apart from one thing…internet access. There’s a connection in the rooms but when I was there no-one was able to access it satisfactorily. It’s not a problem if you don’t need access, but could be quite a major issue if you do.

NH Palacio de Ferrera occupies an absolutely peach of a position in Avilés, one of our favourite places in Asturias. Not only does the 17th century building look gorgeous, it’s located on a lovely plaza which is home to the city’s town hall and a bustling pavement café society. As an added bonus the Palacio de Ferrera lies next to loads of sidrerías and is also only a 10 minute walk from the fabulous Oscar Niemeyer Cultural Centre. It’s a hard base to beat for experiencing the best of what Alivés has to offer…and that is one hell of a lot.
