Snapshots, Remains of the Past on Lanzarote

Dried fish, Lanzarote, Canary Islands

The only thing I really liked about Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote when we visited nearly a quarter of a century ago was the old harbour. Watching a couple of men sitting on the old wall with a clay jug of wine between them was enough to have me ordering wine instead of beer for the first time ever. I didn’t return until 2012, and then it was just passing through. The only thing I liked about Puerto del Carmen had gone. But at least there was still some evidence of what once must have been a nice little fishing community.
